Fair Vote Canada

Fair Vote Canada (FVC) is a multi-partisan citizens' campaign for voting system reform. FVC promotes the use of fair and proportional voting systems for elections of all levels of government and throughout civil society.

FVC is a small NGO, has been around for about 7 years, and if you care about democracy, then they're well worth supporting.

In April 2008 Alan helped Fair Vote Canada with a re-implementation of CiviCRM to manage their donations, membership and communication with their constituents. See this case study for a detailed look at that process.

During summer/fall 2008, we helped migrate their mail to google apps, updated their Drupal install, cleaned up their disks, and eventually switched the site over to our server during the October federal election. Also during this time, we provided ongoing CiviCRM support as they extended their use of CiviCRM and continue to work out the details of how to use it.

In spring/summer 2009, we migrated them to our new server when their existing host quit and then upgraded the site to Drupal 6 and CiviCRM 2.2.

In fall 2009, we completely rebuilt the public content of the site, created a new design, and together with additional CiviCRM upgrades and a funky 'vote calculator', we're ready for the May 2011 election!.
